Asalamualakum,
When the blessed month of Ramadan began, IMANA Medical Relief was on its’ way to assess how it can make a difference in East Africa. On behalf of IMANA, I was able to visit Dadaab, Kenya and Mogadishu, Somalia. Words cannot do justice to what I witnessed. Carcasses of animals littered the land. There were graves
The world has focused their efforts on Dadaab, Kenya and rightfully so. But in contrast Mogadishu, Somalia remains ignored. Cholera has already spread like a wildfire taking the lives of all it is inflicting. I met one mother who lost a child everyday that week and was left with one child, who also was suffering from cholera. Imagine loosing a child, yet alone, one every night for three nights in a row.
The past two decades have taken their toll on Mogadishu. The healthcare system is non-existent. Even a developed country would face its’ fair share of challenges when a crisis of this magnitude results in millions being displaced. Just imagine a war torn battered land like Somalia having to now deal with famine of catastrophic significance resulting in disease and death of apocalyptic proportions. IMANA Medical Relief will once again take the lead. We are currently recruiting volunteers for Mogadishu. We have put forth a safe and efficient project in collaboration with Islamic Relief to provide, emergent health care in Mogadishu. There is an urgent need for pediatricians, emergency medicine, family medicine, and ob-gyn physicians. Our teams will join other IMA’s from FIMA http://www.fimaweb.net/ in providing life saving health care. In this blessed month of Ramadan, we have now come to the grand finale – the last ten days of Ramadan that are even more blessed than the rest of Ramadan. Reap the rewards of the final days of this holy month. Donate today! For us to carry out our goals we need your help, every dollar will truly make a difference, it will save a life. Be that difference.
"The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity."
JazakhAllah Khair
