Grant Program Winners  – 2022

IFN Free Clinic – Libertyville, Illinois

While this free clinic is staffed primarily with gracious volunteers who donate their time, documentation, lab services, essential diagnostic tools, and medications come at a cost. The grant will help ensure that patients receive appropriate assessment and management of their chronic health conditions and fundamental acute problems (such as wound care, suture removal, etc.).

Shifa Care Clinic, Inc – Augusta, Georgia

The Shifa Care Clinic, Inc is a non-profit organization established to provide free medical care for indigent and uninsured individuals in Augusta and the surrounding areas. During the last few years of operation, the clinic had many patients with poor dentition, and most of them cannot afford regular visits with a dentist. Since no free dental services exist in their community, Shifa Care Clinic has decided to add dental services to their operation. Two dentists are donating their time, but the clinic needs dental equipment.

The Initiative on Islam and Medicine – Brookfield, Wisconsin

The Initiative on Islam & Medicine is a leader in theory-based, action-oriented research and data-driven, religiously-tailored education that empowers patients, clinicians, and communities with the knowledge and tools needed for effective health programming. Since 2012, they have systematically tackled Muslim health disparities related to cancer screening, organ donation, and end-of-life care by identifying how religious values, beliefs, and identity contribute to Muslim health behaviors and healthcare disparities.

Free Clinic Program

Worry Free Community

The Worry Free Community will train 50 community volunteers to be certified in CPR/AED and First Aid within eight separate mosque communities to support outdoor or mosque summer events. In addition, these trained volunteers will be certified as “Community Health Volunteers” (CHVs) of the mosque communities to host and operate the medical booths at the mosque events. A licensed trainer from the American Health Association (AHA) will provide hands-on training, certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Clarkston Community Health Center – Clarkston, Georgia

Clarkston Community Health Center is a free health clinic with a mission to be a state-of-the-art, culturally and linguistically competent primary and preventive health care facility to provide a medical home to the residents of the city of Clarkston and to those in need throughout north Georgia.

The Muslim American Senior Services Clinic (MASS) is a free medical clinic established in 2010 by members of the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida. MASS’s mission is to provide free social and medical service to those in need.

Islamic Center of Detroit Health Clinic – Detroit, Michigan

ICD has been actively serving the community’s health care needs for the past ten years. Backed by IMANA’s grant, ICD restarted their bi-annual health fair in September 2021, attended by 550 families, and received diabetes testing, blood pressure checkup, consultations with physicians, and Covid-19 testing at no cost along with a drive-thru food distribution. Worry Free Community – Glendale Heights, Illinois

Project Be-Well Telehealth Free Clinic is a virtual clinical triage service founded under the umbrella of Worry Free Community (WFC) in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. WFC is a Chicagoland-rooted nonprofit whose founders have been serving the area’s diverse Muslim community since 2013.
