What is the timeline of the Scholarship Program?
The application cycle runs from September through March. Following the March deadline, applications are reviewed from April through June, with final selections completed by the end of the review period. Applicants will be notified of their application status by late-June.
When are the winners announced?
Scholarship recipients will be contacted and notified in June. IMANA will formally announce the recipients through its e-newsletter and social media channels by August.
How and when are the awards distributed?
Once IMANA has processed the award, the scholarship check will be sent directly to the recipient’s academic institution. Scholarship funds are disbursed at the beginning of the fall semester of the academic year following the application cycle.
For example, students selected during the 2025–2026 application cycle would have their scholarship funds applied toward their Fall 2026 semester.
When do I need to submit my application and supplemental materials by?
Your application and all required supplemental materials must be submitted by the stated deadline to be considered for a scholarship. Please ensure that all information is complete, accurate, and all required documents have been uploaded before the deadline. Incomplete applications, missing materials, or inaccurate information may result in disqualification and will not be considered for review.
Can I submit letters of recommendation, my unofficial transcript, or other required documents by email or outside of AwardSpring?
No. All application materials must be submitted through the AwardSpring platform. Letters of recommendation must be completed directly by the recommender using the link generated and sent by the applicant through AwardSpring. Recommenders should also adhere to the word limit specified in the recommendation request.
Materials submitted by email or outside of the AwardSpring platform will not be accepted or considered as part of the application.
What happens if my recommender does not submit their letter by the deadline?
Your application will be considered incomplete and will not be eligible for review if the required recommendation is not submitted by the stated deadline. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all recommendation letters are completed and submitted on time.
Applicants can monitor the status of their recommendations through their AwardSpring account. If a recommendation is still marked as pending, we encourage you to follow up with your recommender well before the deadline.
As a DACA status individual I do not have a FAFSA. What should I do?
IMANA uses the Student Aid Index (SAI) reported on the FAFSA Submission Summary as a measure of financial need. Students with DACA status who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA may instead upload documentation indicating that they have not filed a FAFSA. IMANA recognizes that students with DACA status are not eligible for federal student aid through the FAFSA and will consider their circumstances accordingly.
My program is on a Pass/Fail grading system, what should I enter for my GPA?
If you have completed all required coursework and do not have any outstanding academic requirements/holds, you may enter a 4.00 GPA. The application also requires you to upload a copy of your transcript, which will be reviewed alongside the GPA you provide to verify the information submitted.
