Together, we can bring healing, hope, and health to communities in Guyana.

Expanding Surgical Access in Guyana

IMANA is proud to launch specialized surgical missions to Guyana, focusing on plastic and reconstructive procedures at the Georgetown Public Hospital. These missions are designed to deliver life-changing care to patients who have limited access to surgical interventions due to financial, geographic, or systemic barriers.

Our surgical teams will prioritize mammoplasty and breast reduction surgeries, which are medically necessary for many individuals. These procedures are often overlooked in underserved regions, yet they can dramatically improve physical and mental well-being. Patients who undergo these surgeries often suffer from:

  • Chronic back, shoulder, and neck pain
  • Posture and spine alignment issues
  • Skin irritation, infections, and mobility limitations
  • Emotional distress, anxiety, and low self-confidence

By restoring comfort, movement, and dignity, these procedures offer not just relief—but renewal.

Our Local Partner: Georgetown Public Hospital

IMANA’s missions will be hosted in collaboration with Georgetown Public Hospital, a major healthcare provider in the country. By working with local teams, we ensure continuity of care and help build local capacity through training and mentorship, contributing to long-term impact beyond each mission.

IMANA’s Previous Impact in Guyana

This new initiative builds on IMANA’s previous success in the region. Just this past year, IMANA provided a $5000 grant to local partners for Ramadan food kits to enhance access to nutrition in the region. Previously, in 2018 and 2019, we awarded grants to support cancer screening and treatment services. As a result, over 270 patients received essential care, including:

  • Prostate screenings
  • Mammograms and CT scans
  • Pap smears
  • Chemotherapy and brachytherapy

This effort proved that targeted medical intervention in Guyana can lead to significant, measurable outcomes.
