A new partnership between IMANA and ISNA on combatting food insecurity is highlighted in the latest issue of Islamic Horizons, ISNA’s bimonthly newsletter. Spearheaded by IMANA board member Marium Husain, M.D., the initiative utilizes a simple questionnaire tool that health care providers can use in assessing a patient’s food insecurity and referring them to support resources. You can read the article on pages 22-23.

Trauma symposium
Trauma specialists are invited to attend the 9th annual Drs. M.Y. and Shaheda Ahmed Symposium in Trauma and Critical Care. This conference focuses on the education of lessons learned in the top 10 MASCAL and current concepts and concerns in REBOA. IMANA members and doctors M.Y. and Shaheda Ahmed started this symposium nine years ago as a Muslim contribution to medical education. It will take place October 2 in Toledo, Ohio.
