IMANA Opens New Office to Support its Relief Wing

We opened our new office in Fairfax, Virginia, to support IMANA Medical Relief’s growing operations. In addition to IMANA’s headquarters in the midwest region since 1998, the new office space on the east coast doubles the office footprint. It leverages the area’s diverse, robust nonprofit sector and government operations.

“We are thrilled to expand our presence in the DC area, which is a logical step in our growth strategy,” said Zahid Mahmood, Director of Operations. “The new space allows us to increase our ability to service current and future relief work, and strengthen our connection with our members, supporters, and partner organizations to continue making a real impact for those in need.”

To officially celebrate this new milestone, IMANA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony carried out by its previous presidents – Dr. Tajjuddin Ahmed, Dr. Abdul Rauf Mir – and the current president Dr. Marium Husain. A short prayer was led by Imam Mohamed Magid, Executive Imam of ADAMS to commemorate the occasion, followed by a few short speeches.

The event was well-attended, which includes our current leadership, Board members, officials from FEMA, executives from our partner NGOs, and representatives from the ADAMS Center. Dr. Husain welcomed the guests and acknowledged the services of the out-going IMANA president, Dr. Nabile Safdar, especially the positive impact and influence in managing the organization through unique challenges the Covid-19 pandemic brought about. Dr. Safdar gave a brief outline of the history of IMANA, while Dr. Khalique Zahir spoke about the strategic realignment of the organization over the last four years.

Wrapping up the inauguration celebrations, we hosted a fun-filled cookout event the next day which was attended by over 120 guests. The IMANA leadership and staff were able to connect with our members, supporters and locals in the area and share with them IMANA’s impact through the decades.
